Winter capsule outfit of the day | black button-down cardigan

We’ve had beautiful (nearly 80 degree) weather the last several days in CA. Flowers are starting to bloom and the sun has been shining. But spring is such a tease! All of a sudden, we’re back to cool and gloom.

I never used to be a fan of cardigans (they were too structured for my taste), but as street style has taken over, they’ve become a staple in many wardrobes. And they’re great to have in your closet for chillier days or cool nights. I searched for a long time before I found one that wasn’t either too prim and proper or frumpy.

This textured one from Free People is one of my favorites, and I have it in black and cream for my minimal closet (size small but it does run a bit big). It pairs well with everything - jeans and a tee, dresses, skirts. Most recently I’ve been wearing it on its own paired with my favorite straight-leg denim and flats. all linked here.

It’s the perfect transitional piece as we ease into spring. Slowly but surely.
