Three sweater styles for a winter capsule wardrobe

I love sweater season. I’m all about throw on and go, and sweaters are perfect but elevate your look with coziness and texture.

Most of my sweaters are in the neutral palette so I can mix and match easily.

But I find I wear these three main styles depending on my mood.

Casual

LONGER LENGTH SWEATER

I’m not a fan of “tunics” because they typically swallow your shape. But a tailored, longer length sweater is great to have in your closet for pairing with leggings. This look is perfect for casual days or a night in. Pair with simple sneakers or flat booties.

Cozy

CHUNKY KNIT SWEATER

The classic texture of a chunky knit is the essence of winter style. I love this ivory one from Free People (spoiler alert: nearly all of my sweaters are Free People). This is easy to pair with dark denim and a cute bootie for an instant cool-weather cozy look.

Chic

CASHMERE CARDIGAN

I spent years on the hunt for a classic cardigan that didn’t look frumpy, and I love this one. The oversized buttons add a fun detail and the cashmere holds warmth. I usually pair with a simple white camisole and black denim for an edgier, elevated look.

These staples will take you from day to night, time after time!
