Southerly Summary - June 2022

I fell back in love with reading in June.

There’s something about slow summer days…and since reading more was one of my goals this year, there was no better time to start. Emily Henry’s romantic comedy stories kept me entertained during travel and on my couch (currently on my third but my fave has been Book Lovers!). It was fun to see what other book recs came in from my social poll. I’ll be starting my first Colleen Hoover book next based on your feedback!

I was really inspired by summer living so in June I shared more summer decor ideas including the summer bar cart and entryway. One of my best sellers was this pretty rattan pitcher!

And as always, there were plenty of fresh cocktails! One of my favorites was sharing the Salty Dog - a super simple, but delicious cocktail perfect for summer days - and one that holds sentimental value since my dad introduced me to it.

I took Roman on his first lake trip (typically we go in July but postponed due to our upcoming wedding!). We celebrated a middle school and college graduate, shared floral tips, and I rounded out the month with a short but sweet visit to my parent’s new place in Colorado.

While we were hoping to be celebrating summer in our new backyard, things are taking their time in that department! There has been a lot of prep work to the yard, some delays in materials, but finally as we enter July we are starting to see some bigger progress again. I’m so excited to share more details on that once its further along! If you’re going through renovation or home projects too, patience is such a virtue! And I wouldn’t recommend planning a wedding at the same time, but hey…all good things! Major credit goes to my fiance who helps me keep my cool and keep things in perspective.

Summer is in full bloom, and we expect July to be a busy one, especially gearing up for the final countdown of our wedding! I’m hoping to share more details of that once things slow down a bit.

I hope June was a cheerful month for you easing into summer. Here’s to longer days and more sunshine, friends.
