Hosting tips: Summer entertaining ideas for the Fourth of July

For the past several years, we’ve made a tradition out of heading to the lake with our dearest friends to celebrate the Fourth. I look forward to the trip each year, and we have so many wonderful memories as our “framily” has evolved.

This year looks a bit different since we have an important celebration of our own - our wedding! So we opted to keep things low key for the summer.

Whether you’re celebrating the Fourth at home or afar, I wanted to put together some easy party tricks for y’all to make the most of the holiday weekend with your guests!

Firecracker rim

Make your drinks pop(!) by adding PopRocks candy to the rim of your cocktails or mocktails. It makes for a fun and festive treat! Simply take a bit of water, lemon, or lime to wet the rim of your glass and dip in red or blue flavored candy.

Star spangled spritz

This is probably my favorite of the three! For this festive drink, I created star-shaped fruit ice cubes using cookie cutters and watermelon. Freeze the watermelon for 4+ hours. Drop into your glass and top with rose for the perfect patriotic spritz! You could also use sparkling water in lieu of rose for this.

Red, white & blue snack station

I love using these glass jars to hold snacks for parties. They can double as centerpieces and look pretty on your table. For an American theme, fill them with any red, white and blue combo! I used Red Vines, blue M&Ms, and white chocolate pretzels.

As you know, we’re all about simple and impactful ideas here! I hope you find these fun and easy to achieve for your next summer gathering. Enjoy!
