Welcoming summer - Summer entryway decor
If you haven’t noticed (!), I love the start of anything new - especially the seasons.
Transitioning into summer means lighter layers, fresh ingredients, sunshine and backyard shenanigans. While our backyard is under construction, I’ve been looking for ways to bring the outdoors in now more than ever, and the entryway has become one of my favorite spaces to liven up.
Our entry is somewhat narrow, so I keep my main elements the same for now including a round mirror, hooks, and wooden bench. The bench I styled is repurposed from a dining table from our smaller house. I love the rustic feel, plus its sustainably made, and the sizing fits perfectly in our narrow entryway. Benches are so versatile - they’re functional and beautiful, plus there are many ways to style them.
I also love a mirror in the entryway. It brightens up the space and serves as a useful check in before heading out the door! The one I have styled is from West Elm, and it’s been moved around to a variety of spaces.
From there I wanted a breezy, layered feel. I’m still in love with my Amber Interiors x Anthroliving pillow, so there’s no need to swop it out (another win for neutrals/earth tones). I stored away the faux shearling and instead added a neutral throw to bring in texture and a homy vibe, without the heaviness. I’ve been dying to style this one from Sweet Water Decor, and I think it will look lovely outdoors as well once our space is ready.
I always like to have a plant around, but wanted to try something new for summer. I had gotten some inspiration for potted hydrangeas and had the idea to repurpose this cute apple basket as a planter. I simply placed the potted plant inside, surrounded it with old towels, and layered Spanish moss on top to give it a finished look. Simple, affordable, and beautiful. You can recreate this look using the materials I’ve shown or with any basket planter and plant. The flowers really bring out the summer vibes!
Throw in your most-loved summer hat(s) on the hook for the final touch. This is such an easy decor hack that I love! The right hats can really make the space feel lived-in, while also serving as pretty decorative items when not in use.
Lastly, if you want an additional style element, try hanging or placing a straw market basket near your bench/console. I’m obsessed with mine that I found on Etsy as it can be worn as a backpack and is perfect for flower foraging or farmers market hauls.
With neutrals, florals, and a bit of earthy texture, you can make a big impact in a small (or large!) space.
I hope this inspires you to welcome in summertime! I’m linking additional items, along with a saver pillow option, so be sure to follow my shop on LTK!
