How to fit trends into your personal style
A while back I mused on IG about how your personal style develops over time and also how it can change.
When I started my blog, I didn’t think I was “stylish” enough to talk about it, but I discovered a like-minded community into (modern) minimalist fashion, quality over quantity, and expressing yourself in your own way.
I feel my most self in neutral, casual classics. So I usually take time my time with trends…and want to make sure they fit my personal style.
Belt bags have been a thing for a while now, but I was so not into them at first! However, most of the bags I own are crossbody styles because of their low-key, versatility and this style had similar appeal.
I had been eyeing a few belt bags to try but knew that if I was going to incorporate it into my wardrobe, it still had to fit what I typically look for: neutral color, classic style, and ideally, sustainable (or versatile enough to wear for years to come). Thankfully, I found all of those things with this beautiful style from Senreve.
I decided to make the investment during their Handbag Revival sale. Senreve at times offers gently used bags or those that are in excellent/new condition without the original packaging at a lower price point. In my case, I scored this gorgeous vegan leather Aria belt bag in new condition at a discounted price! I prefer smaller bags, and this one is perfect for holding your phone, lip gloss, cards/keys and sunglasses. I love that I can wear it as a belt bag, crossbody, or even clutch and so far I’ve used it a handful of times since I purchased it two weeks ago.
My husband actually introduced me to this brand a few years ago. He bought me the midi Maestra for work because being in a big city, I loved the functionality of a back pack (I call them book bags btw!) and the style of a tote. This bag really does have it all! And it is still in great condition. Highly recommend checking them out for your next handbag purchase.
Another style that I only recently purchased is a pair of Birkenstock sandals. I’m sure these are still a bit of an acquired taste, but I found them to be so functional and comfortable.
I never liked the heaviness of this sandal, but with much of my denim collection becoming straight or boot leg cut, I found the weight of the sandal to be more balanced. I also went with a tone in my color palette so I’d be more inclined to wear them with what’s already in my closet.
There are so many ways to get outfit inspiration these days from blogs, to Instagram and Pinterest. As you develop your own style, pay attention to what you gravitate towards regularly. I’ve found that by keeping a wish list of shopping items, I’m more mindful with purchases and take the time to find styles that suit me.
Is there something you never thought you’d own that you love to wear?
