Bump-friendly basics for before, during and after
As I’ve taken some time away from the blog with all we have on our plate, I’ve also been thinking about what I want to write about. One thing I’ve always been less passionate about is the style side. I do enjoy wearing a cute outfit and believe that when you feel put together, you’re often more confident and more productive. However, I am just not excited enough about it to keep up with posting about outfit trends, sales, etc. It’s always felt a bit out of my realm so there will likely be less of a focus on it in 2024.
That said, I still love my neutral wardrobe and while I’ve wanted to remain more minimalist in my purchasing approach, pregnancy has brought a whole new set of challenges! So I felt compelled to pull together the staples that have gotten me through my first and second trimesters - including a few new purchases that I plan to continue wearing during and after.
By far the workhorse of my wardrobe of late is the Lululemon Align leggings. I’m still wearing my normal size but will likely purchase a size up (or two?) to continue wearing as baby grows. These have always been a staple and so happy they are still comfortable to wear.
I recently purchased this athleisure onesie on Amazon and have been loving the fit and comfort. It's cute to show off the bump and has lots of stretch. Great price point, too.
If you follow my IG, I have shared this super soft crewneck from Abercrombie a few times. Perfect for throwing on for a class or gym.
I’ve been living in my oversized Free People staples like this crew and this fleece.
Matching sets are still very in and I love the ease of them. I love this one for lounging around the house and just purchased this Aritzia one that I’ll continue to wear. It’s super cute paired with a puffer vest.
Jeans have been a different story! I was able to wear my Mother denim (size 27) up until recently. Now, the only pair I currently own that fit are these super comfy low-rise boyfriend denim. I think they will last for a while because of the fit! But I do have some maternity denim on order so we’ll see how those work.
Oversized sweaters have been perfect for winter. You can see my edit here for my favorite picks.
Other basics include long-line tanks (to cover any belly bands or extenders!) and boxy tees.
And for a more elevated look, I’ve purchased a few more oversized button downs like this Madewell one and will continue to wear my fave one from last year.
I also got this drawstring slip skirt and these pants from Aritzia that can be dressed up or down. I didn’t have one similar so felt it was worth investing.
These staples are all wearable before, during and after pregnancy which makes them versatile pieces I hope to continue wearing. They’re cute if you aren’t pregnant, too!
