A note on slow living and what’s inspiring me lately

I posted a few weeks ago three life changing things I recently learned. I had been feeling sort of stuck. Not really clear on my direction. And ultimately started to question my purpose.

I’m sure so many struggle with this so I wanted to share in hopes it helped someone else. It felt good to take a moment to reflect (which you know I’m a big proponent of!) but also to find some new thoughts and ideas to help get my creativity back.

One thought I came across recently that resonated was to stop trying so hard to be unique. Inherently, we are already unique just by being ourselves. I love this idea and hope that it shows in my content.

I recently started listening to the Sustainable Minimalists podcast. I love that they talk about practical ways to be more mindful.

In a recent episode, this quote really spoke to me.

"We've become afraid of boredom...
but the truth is boredom is what allows creativity and exploration to happen." - Tanya Dalton

I've been trying to slow down for the past few years, but even leaving a corporate job, I struggle with the idea of sitting still (figuratively). But life is not a race, and we're lucky to experience each moment.

Oftentimes, all it takes is just focusing on the present. That could be while you’re eating lunch, reading a book, going for a walk without your phone. Getting back from a recent trip with family always fills me up, too.

I recently picked up this book. Like the podcast mentions, it takes you back to your childhood to rediscover your spark and what makes you, you. I find this so fascinating!

In a similar vein, a friend and reader suggested The Midnight Library and I just finished it. I really enjoyed it. While fictional, it carries the same theme that little choices in life have a big impact. And above all, we’re lucky to be here to experience it. So enjoy the ride!

What’s inspiring you lately?

PS - all the flowers blooming is also a wonderful boost this time of year!
