How to host NYE at home

How are we so close to 2022?! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for a fresh start. I love the thrill of possibility the new year brings.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to thank you, my readers, for being here. I started the blog in 2021 and have already learned so much. It’s been a great creative outlet, but it’s also been a lot of work! I’m so excited to see what 2022 will bring in this space and am grateful for the community.

Every year has ups and downs. The tough times make us stronger. The good times bring happiness. All those moments shape who we are…so let’s celebrate what has been, what is, and what will be! I hope to inspire you to relish the moments, including an NYE at home (those truly are the best!).

With that, put on those sequins girl, and throw that impromptu party! Here’s a few ideas to ring in the New Year in style.

Champagne tasting

Champagne is a must for NYE. But you can spice it up by serving a few different champagne cocktails or setting up a champagne station with various juices/berries (think grapefruit, apple-pear, raspberry) for guests to make their own. Serve in a festive glass.

Game night

This is fun for the whole family, but can also be great for adults too. Dust off those board games or set up that new Nintendo Switch (Mario Kart is a fave in our house) and just be a kid! You can totally rave with a dance party using your Apple TV (check out Just Dance) or bust out that karaoke microphone for some old fashioned fun.

Sweets and sweats party

This may be my favorite option…if you’re having a later gathering, simply serve desserts and make the attire pajamas for a cozy evening in. Have guests bring their favorite sweet treat or a fun cocktail to take the pressure off hosting.

Classic dinner party

You can’t go wrong with a dinner party for the occasion. Create a special menu for a smaller group or host a potluck for a larger gathering. Serve a signature cocktail and themed apps to get things started and keep the menu simple so you can get in on the fun.

You can absolutely use your Christmas decor for NYE! Use decorative trees that are white/gold/silver or anything that sparkles to add to your table. Adding a fun party popper (it’s fun to say isn’t it?!) brings in the NYE theme and makes for a fun place setting. Shop my picks on Amazon below for fast delivery.

Whatever you do, I hope you’re surrounded by love and excitement. Take time to reflect on all of your accomplishments and welcome the unknown. The new year awaits!
